There are several reasons people join The Arlington Study of Healthy Aging. You may want to learn more about your health. The information that comes from your participation can help researchers work towards improving your health as you age.
To be eligible for The Arlington Study of Healthy Aging, you must be 18-30 or 50-80 years of age and live in Tarrant County. Additional criteria will be determined during the screening process.
AHSA is committed to making sure data are kept private. We also want to make sure that data are not misused. The ASHA Research Program:
• Follows strict rules for keeping data safe.
• Has strict policies and procedures to prevent misuse of data.
• Will tell participants if there is a risk to their privacy because of data breach.
• Stores data on protected computers. This keeps track of and limits who can see it.
• Removes persoanal details that could identify participants from the data.
You can receive an additional $25 for each new participant you invite that qualifies for the study.
You will be paid in the form of a gift card.
There are no direct benefits to you for taking part in this study; however, it is a good way to give back to your community, learn about your health, and help advance science. It is expected that your participation will benefit society, by expanding our understanding of health and the human condition.
In general, we will not give you any individual results from the study. If we find something of urgent medical importance to you, we will inform you, although we expect that this will be a very rare occurrence.
You may choose not to participate in the study at any time without consequence.
